Such is the extent of Manchester United's fixture pile-up, they are playing for a third Thursday in succession, with their derby with Manchester City at the Etihad fixed for the day of the week usually untouched by Premier League football. So if you're wondering where to watch the Manchester derby, or why the Manchester derby is on a Thursday night, then read on...
Where to watch the Manchester derby?
The Manchester derby is on Sky Sports 1 on Thursday night, kicking off at 8pm.
What time does coverage begin?
Sky are giving it the full treatment, with coverage beginning at 7pm.
Why is the Manchester derby on a Thursday?
Owing to United's fighting on several fronts, the game has been pushed back by two months. It was originally scheduled to be held on the final weekend of February but was postponed owing to United's involvement in the EFL Cup final against Southampton. The fixture pile-up means that City's next game against Middlesborough has been put back to this Sunday, while they have yet to finalise a date for a fixture against West Brom, postponed owing to FA Cup involvement.
Any injury worries?
Things look healthier for City than United on this front. Vincent Kompany came through a Premier League clash with Southampton, while Gabriel Jesus is back in contention after a broken metatarsal. John Stones should be fit, too, having missed the FA Cup semi-final with Arsenal. United, meanwhile, have some serious injury concerns off the back of the Europa League tie with Anderlecht. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the rest of the season - and possibly the rest of the calendar year - with a knee injury, while Marcos Rojo will miss out too having been stretchered off in Europe.
