Aston Villa striker Rudi Gestede has been criticised across social media for a lack of sportsmanship after he won a corner when he was expected to return the ball to Man City following treatment to an injured player.
In the clip, Gestede throws the ball back with some force and Joe Hart fails to control it, resulting in a corner kick being awarded. The Villa striker did suggest that he was throwing the ball out for a goal kick, but after he saw Hart come over he threw the ball with excessive force, but should Hart have just let the ball go? Or should his control have been a bit better?
Watch the clip and judge for yourself:
The City players certainly weren't happy, and the tweets quicklu came flooding in, albeit with users arguing for both sides of the debate:
That is a disgrace. Gestede' throw to Hart was hip height and hard - and they still took the corner

gestede gestured for hart to step aside so he could throw it straight out for a goal kick. hart had another idea & effed up. cry more.

It seems like it could have been easily avoidable, but then again Hart had no reason to come over and insist the ball be thrown to him, so the reaction from the City players seems a bit much.
Kicking the ball out for an injury continues to be one of the more ridiculous grey areas in football, and surely a set rule should be brought into place to avoid situations like this.
