When the Tipperary footballers shocked the GAA world and reached the All Ireland semifinal last year, many people predicted they would fall back to earth in 2017.
The 2017 Championship seemed to suggest Tipp were coming back to the back. They should've beaten a poor Cork team in Munster, but instead lost by a point after a hectic final minute in Pairc Ui Rinn. They parachuted into the qualifiers and were facing a stern test today against Cavan today in Breffni Park.
At half time, Tipp found themselves six points down with five first-half wides. Defeat seemed inevitable but an amazing second half saw Liam Kearns' side rattle 2-8 past the Ulster side.
Robbie Kiely and Conor Sweeney both found the net for the Premier as they ran out 2-15 to 0-18 winners. That's a nine-point swing from halftime.
It's the latest bit of evidence that this Tipp team is chock-full of character. They stole promotion to Division 2 with a ballsy comeback in Armagh last March. They also shocked Derry in the Bref last July.
Social media reacted accordingly to the remarkable comeback. But what must Cavan make of their summer being over before the second week of July?
Cavan GAA - Pathetic stuff- 6 up and half time and now 6 down! 6 minutes left! 666 - the devil is in town
