Ireland take on Norway Friday evening in an absolutely vital 2019 Women's World Cup qualifier at 17.30 in Tallaght Stadium. Norway are one of the best teams in Europe, but Ireland are more than capable of getting a massive result tomorrow. A win against Norway and we can legitimately dream of World Cup qualification.
To get the blood boiling and heart thumping, two of Ireland's best spoken word poets Stephen James Smith and Hazel Hogan have penned the following emotional rally cry to the Girls in Green. It's called 'Earn The Spotlight'. You can watch it below.
Written & performed by @SJSwords and @Hazel__Hogan this powerful poem 'Earn The Spotlight' is our good luck message to @FAIWomen's National Team as they try to qualify for their first ever World Cup.
Let’s get behind our team and show your support for the girls in green. #COYGIG pic.twitter.com/kkoSTn8aTi— AVIVA (@AVIVAIRELAND) June 4, 2018
In this World Cup qualifying campaign, the Girls In Green have well and truly earned the spotlight. This up-and-coming group of footballers have held their own against formidable opposition. The most important 5 days of the qualifying campaign lie in front of them, but they have the skill, passion and hunger to get two huge results against Norway.
Stephen and Hazel quote the great Countess Markeviecz in this video: 'dress suitably in strong boots'. You can be sure the Girls In Green will do just that tomorrow. Get to Tallaght to support them.
