It may have been another good weekend on the field for Leicester and Jamie Vardy but, on a personal level, the England striker was forced to deal with some of the truly sickening downsides of high profile success. Just before Sunday's victory over Southampton, Vardy confronted some disgusting tweets which targeted his 1-year old daughter, with a number of accounts sending sexual threats about the child to Vardy's fiancé's account.
Rebecca Nicholson, Vardy's partner, posted a picture of their daughter wearing a No. 9 Leicester jersey, and was met with sickening responses from a number of Twitter users. Vardy then took to his own account to screenshot some of the threats from those who responded to the image of the young girl with nothing short of horrific language.
The Leicester forward described the whole situation as "shocking and vile", while Nicholson also responded saying "there are no words for people like you - you need locking up."
The accounts shown in the screenshots are now suspended and Leicestershire Police are working with Leicester and the Vardy-Nicholson family to conduct an investigation into the abuse.
Former Blackpool and Leicester striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher was one of a number of people to respond to Vardy's tweet with his disgust at the situation.
