Michaela Walsh shed tears in Germany earlier this afternoon after she received her gold medal at the European Union Boxing Championships.
Walsh outboxed Nimani Azize in the 54kg final and displayed her pedigree after originally being left out of the squad to go to the championships.
With the home crowd behind her, Azize enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges but the Antrim native grew into the contest and claimed victory.
On the podium, she held aloft her medal to the travelling fans who provided the raucous support during her bout.
Meanwhile, Kellie Harrington was unable to upgrade her silver medal to gold after being beaten in her 60kg final.
The Dubliner took on Katie Taylor's Rio 2016 conqueror, Mira Potkonen of Finland. Despite her initial calculated aggression, Harrington was shaken by the power of the Fin.
The 27-year-old twice found herself on the wrong end of a count and in the end could not get the better of Potkonen.
The results take Ireland's tally at the Championships to three after Grainne Walsh's bronze medal coming after her semi-final exit on Friday.
