The top two ranked fighters in Conor McGregor's featherweight division have gone toe-to-toe twice before, but now the pair are uniting over their dislike of the 'joker' McGregor.
Mendes, despite losing to Aldo twice, is the top ranked challenger to Aldo's crown in the division. He faces McGregor this Saturday after Aldo pulled out of the highly-anticipated title fight with thee Dubliner.
Tweeting yesterday, Mendes showed his respect for Aldo, in contrast to his feelings about McGregor. Mendes said:
@JoseAldoJunior, when we compete, we compete; but you always have my respect. @TheNotoriousMMA does not respect anything. I will have the supper of the fans #UFC189?
O respeito é mútuo e já estou ansioso pra lutar com vc de novo. Sei q vc vai atropelar o bobo e terá o apoio de todos meus fãs, @chadmendes!

In the early hours of this morning, Aldo responded to Mendes' words, bonding with his challenger over their shared feelings towards McGregor:
Hate to break it to them but we'd suggest McGregor probably won't mind too much.
