Liverpool turn their attention to the FA Cup and the visit of Southampton after their League Cup heroics at the weekend. Here's all you need to know about Liverpool v Southampton.

The Reds won their 10th League Cup on Sunday, as Jurgen Klopp's youthful side had a famous victory over Chelsea. Klopp's team already missing the likes of Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szobozali and Trent Alexander-Arnold took further blows during the game in the shape of injuries to Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch.

The Saints have slipped down the Championship table in recent weeks but still sit in fourth. They will no doubt have aspirations to return to the Premier League but could sense an opportunity for a famous result against a depleted Liverpool side.

The game will be live on ITV1 with coverage beginning from 7:30pm.

Teams

Jurgen Klopp will have had very little time to celebrate their League Cup success and Liverpool's injury woes only worsened in the 120 minute battle against the Blues. They will hope to welcome back the quartet of Salah, Nunez, Szobozlai and Alexander-Arnold in the coming weeks but this game may just come too soon. As a result, the likes of Jayden Danns, Bobby Clark and James McConnell are expected to get another opportunity after impressing in the final. Both Caoimhín Kelleher and Conor Bradley had stellar displays during the game and are expected to play some part.

There could be a significant Irish contingent on the Anfield surface as Will Smallbone, Ryan Manning and Gavin Bazunu are all likely to feature. It will be especially rare to see two Irish goalkeepers face off in opposing nets in a game of this magnitude. No doubt Kelleher will want to get one over Bazunu, who is in possession of the Irish goalkeeper jersey.
