The All-Ireland football final was, of course, contested today at Croke Park but it wasn't the only game of football being discussed at Croker. Thanks to an innovative campaign from Lidl, next Sunday’s Ladies Football Final between Cork and Dublin was on the minds of many attending the All-Ireland final.
Ahead of the match, Lidl distributed 20,000 earpieces to matchgoers. The earpieces provided commentary for the All-Ireland final, but they also supplied a reminder for matchgoers that next Sunday, they can watch a match on the same pitch with the same passion contesting the same prize - an All-Ireland football title.
The lanyards that accompanied the earpieces included a reminder that the Ladies Football Final will be taking place next Sunday on 25th September in Croke Park along with the hashtag #serioussupport. Helpfully, the headpieces will also work next Sunday at Croke Park for anyone looking to see another brilliant final.
It was just one of many reminders of the eagerly-anticipated Ladies Final across the day in the vicinity of Jones's Road. There were posters hanging over many of the most iconic Croke Park pubs advertising the match.
And this stirring ad for the match aired during halftime of the game on RTE Radio 1 today.
As we've mentioned, Dublin will take on Cork in the Ladies Final next Sunday at Croke Park, as Cork aim to complete an amazing six-in-a-row. Tickets are still available if you'd like to show #serioussupport.
