University College Dublin are into the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup final after winning an absorbing, epic, nearly 100 minute semi-final clash with Ulster University. The sides required two sessions of extra-time but in the end, UCD won out 0-18 to 1-13.
UCD had an unexpected boost in the form of Con O’Callaghan, who returned to the starting side after recently starring for Cuala in the All-Ireland club hurling semifinal last Saturday. O'Callaghan has won an All-Ireland and an U21 medal with the Dublin footballers and a club hurling All-Irleand with the Cuala hurlers over the past 12 months and now he is one match away from adding an Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup medal to his trophy cabinet.
UU fought back heroically leveling the game twice in extra time, only to fall just short.
The match was played in Iniskeen and Monaghan upstart Conor McCarthy, playing in his native county, scored six points, including three from play and was voted Man of the Match.

Brian O'Seanachain and Con O'Callaghan landed points in the second-half of extra time to ensure UCD would go to face NUIG in the final.
UCD will travel to Santry Sportsgrounds this Saturday for what is set to be a cracking Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup final with NUIG, after the Galway university beat DIT in last night's other semifinal.
