We may not get a McGregor fight but John Kavanagh has touted a mouthwatering fight between Gunnar Nelson and one of the stars of The Ultimate Fighter 21 finale, Steve Thompson at the October UFC Dublin event.
Wonderboy Thompson was in fine fettle during his TUF21 main event win over Jake Ellenberger and Kavanagh was hugely impressed by his performance.
Sitting down to @WonderboyMMA now. As a fan, him v @GunniNelson for @ufc Dublin main event in October sounds good @seanshelby !

Wow what a great performance by @WonderboyMMA - let's do Dublin in October! #Karate #UFCDublin #Gunni-V-Stephen @seanshelby — Coach Kavanagh (@John_Kavanagh) July 13, 2015
Sounds like a winner, doesn't it?
Dana White is obviously a fan of both, and Nelson would have further endeared himself to the UFC top table with his emphatic win on Saturday night. Indeed White was like a teenager posting emoticon statuses on Facebook with this cryptic tweet to McGregor's training partner.
@GunniNelson don't forget to come see me

Would this be an enticing main event in Dublin?
