We were waiting for something to illuminate this lifeless GAA season, and we were treated to something special this week from a relatively unlikely source.
A piece of individual brilliance during the Senior Camogie Championship final in Armagh left onlookers amazed with what is arguably the GAA goal of the year.
A video posted by the Armagh GAA YouTube page shows Middletown midfielder Jenny Curry, catch her keeper's puckout before careering down the pitch with ferocious pace and crashing a low shot past the Madden club goalkeeper. And if you thought the goal was good, just wait for the euphoric reaction in the stands.
The speedy Jenny Curry, who left a brace of players in her wake on route to scoring her goal, is formerly from Cork and won three All-Irelands with the rebelettes before retiring in 2013. With that level of achievment behind her, is it any wonder she gave us such an exhibition of excellence?
