Beneath the shiny gold roof at Marconi House in Dublin's inner city there lies a deep division. No, we are not referring to the infamous "do not stare at Ray Darcy rule", bigger than that, it's the quickly widening crevice emerging at the home of Off The Ball. As the great Boy George once said, popularity breeds contempt and its no more evident than at the superpods* of Ken Early and Eoin McDevitt. It has come to pass both gentlemen, who make up two-thirds of Off The Balls' Dublin contingent, have been nominated for the same award, the PPI Sports Broadcaster Of The Year.
In most other environments the twosome would be at pains to declare the other more befitting of the crown, not so, not so in the slightest. Ken has taken up the Mitt Romney mantle and has roped in the talents of their Meath born producer, Mark Horgan to add his swerve to the campaign.
We are yet to hear from McDevitt but it is clear that Country Pages Murph has only one side to choose, for he too has been dragged unceremoniously into the battle.
