We're entering the busiest weekend of the both the football and hurling championships of the summer so far, which means we've plenty of opportunity to win some cash and also plenty of opportunity to get it horribly wrong. Here is our weekly betting preview in association with Ladbrokes focusing on this weekend's games...
First things first, we're going to look at the big matches of the weekend. Namely the provincial finals in both codes. Dublin v Westmeath has absolutely no value anywhere so we're going to pretend it's just not happening. Meanwhile the Munster hurling final could be too close to call. I usually stay away from betting on hurling. I am from Cavan after all so what the hell would I know about it? But even I can see Waterford +3 looks decent value.
Moving onto the football qualifiers and there's a lot of chances to win big if you can make brave calls. Meath may have capitulated against Westmeath a couple of weeks ago but they also showed signs of real quality. They have a real chance against Tyrone, who didn't set the world alight in the last round, so if you're looking for a big odds winner then they might be the best shout.
Elsewhere we're also counting on Longford getting within the spread and Armagh coming good against Galway.
Cheeky punt
Meath to beat Tyrone at 5-2.
