After two weeks of voting, Balls.ie readers have selected their Footballer of the Year from outside the top six counties of Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone, Monaghan and Donegal. Without further ado we can now reveal that this year's much coveted prize goes to Galway's Gary O'Donnell after a relatively satisfactory season for the county.
The Gort clubman came through as the clear favourite in the vote and accumulated some 1,600 clicks in the process. Roscommon's Cathal Cregg came in as first runner up with 746 votes while John Heslin from Westmeath was a close third on 657 votes.
O'Donnell played a pivotal role from centre back for Galway this year. After capitulating against Mayo in the Connacht semi-final, Kevin Walsh's side revived and recorded a three point win against Armagh before bowing out to Donegal with a gutsy performance in the last round of the qualifiers.
Gary O'Donnell comes from a hurling stronghold in Gort, but under the tutelage of a primary school teacher from Connemara, he chose a different path which ultimately led to the Galway football team.
