While tattoos are nothing new in the context of the Liverpool-Everton rivalry, an ink-related story has emerged ahead of tonight's derby that will bring some perspective to even the most biased Merseysider.
Evertonian Matty Bowman recently agreed to have "You'll Never Walk Alone" tattooed across his shoulders to help raise money for George Bertie Johnson, a four-year-old with dysautonomia, a rare disease of the nervous system which has left him requiring a feeding tube in his chest.
Bowman, who already has some Everton tattoos, said he volunteered for the unlikely fundraiser as he has a son of the same age. The fundraising page set up by George's family has already surpassed its £15,000 target.
According to Sportskeeda:
“I thought I’d do something different and really get people’s attention,” told Matty. “I was going to do a walk or marathon but then I figured I’d get this tattoo and promote George’s cause.”
“I’m a massive Everton supporter, the most bitter Blue too. I really resent the red half of Liverpool. I love to hate them.”
At least it's served a good cause, unlike this lad...
