Brazilian right-back Cafu is a legend of the game.
From captaining a delightful Brazil side to a World Cup win in 2002, to being a member of the irresistible AC Milan side that terrified Europe just over a decade ago, if you're building an all-time football XI, chances are Cafu has a great shout to be given the number two shirt.
You often hear legends like Maradona and Pele giving their endorsement to up and coming stars, often with disastrous results, but Cafu appears to have a genuine friendship with Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan.
It all started with a tweet in 2014, as Cafu showed his awareness of Flanagan's 'RedCafu' nickname among fans, and then towards the end of last year he clarified how they became pals when he said:
I paid him a visit not long ago, we had lunch and took some pictures together.
He is very fit and has everything required to be one of the best full-backs in the world.
Many wondered if Cafu would acknowledge Flanagan's return to football after a terrible time out due to injuries, which occurred in the second half of Liverpool's FA Cup replay win over Exeter City, and sure enough he did with typical class.
I have a thousand tweets! I guess it's the return of a friend to the field!!! @LFC
