This week, the jury at an inquest in Warrington ruled finally and decisively that 96 Liverpool supporters were killed unlawfully while attending an FA Cup semifinal between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium in 1989.
A tortuously-long road lead to justice for the families of those who lost their lives.
In 2014, ESPN released a 30 for 30 series based only on football. The first of these was called Hillsborough. It was made by Daniel Gordon, who made the 9.79 30 for 30 about the 100 metre dash at the 1988 Olympics. At 1:46:44 long, it tells the entire story of Hillsborough with horrific and forensic detail.
The documentary was initially banned in the UK but can be seen now, with an addendum at the end clarifying the jury's ruling --- that it was not Liverpool supporters who were to blame, but the South Yorkshire police.
