Some say repetition is a form of comedy, but few Arsenal fans will see the humour in their side slipping behind Spurs into fourth in the Premier League.
It is Groundhog Day, and Arsenal settling comfortably into the final Champions League slot in the League was portrayed by many as a mass, Bill Murray/Arsene Wenger cultivated metaphor:
Oh Arsenal. Quite ironic that it's Groundhog Day, haven't we seen this before? #AFCvSFC

Whilst the sardonic online observers were correct about Arsenal's remarkable proclivity for finishing fourth...
Arsenal's last 10 finishes in the PL:
3rd
4th

currently: 4th— Duncan Alexander (@oilysailor) February 2, 2016
...it transpires that this is the first time in nine seasons Arsenal have been fourth on Groundhog Day.
For those interested in such things, here are Arsenal's positions on February 2nd over the past few seasons:
2014/15: 5th
2013/14: 2nd
2012/13: 6th
2011/12: 7th
2010/11: 3rd
2009/10: 3rd
2008/09: 5th
2007/08: 2nd
2006/07: 4th
2005/06: 5th
So whilst it was an easy gag for online users to reach for (this soon to be departed intern at Balls.ie may have also tweeted something to that effect), this rather fitting metaphor has been a rare occurence in recent seasons.
