This month, Sports Direct launched their Born To Play campaign, which sees the sports retailer supporting grassroots gaelic games in five clubs around the country. It's a great initiative that supports the very important grassroots work taking place in gaelic football and hurling clubs across the country.
Sports Direct also have an interest in the intercounty game, and with that in mind, we're excited to reveal the first episode in a video series that will stretch across the 2018 Championship. It's called the SD Skillset and in this series, we'll see some of the best hurlers and gaelic footballers in Ireland going head-to-head in a range of skills challenges.
Later in the summer, Damien Comer, Conor McManus and Paul Geaney will vie to win the inaugural SD Skillset crown in gaelic football.
But hurling is first up. It's been a brilliant year of hurling so far, and the SD Skillset hurling challenge features three of the best young hurlers in Ireland: Waterford's Jamie Barron, Clare's Shane O'Donnell and Limerick's Cian Lynch
In the first episode of the series, the three players test their soloing and ball handling skills as they navigate a tricky obstacle course.
Check out our social channels in a few weeks for the next installment in this series, as the lads face a free-taking demonstration.
