Earlier this week, UFC president Dana White said in a Twitter Q&A that should Conor McGregor defeat Denis Siver this Sunday, then his title fight against Jose Aldo could be held at Croke Park.

Fine Gael senator Catherine Noone, obviously well on top of things when it comes to Dana White Twitter Q&As, is adverse to what would be a massive event being held in Ireland. You might remember Noone as the politician who wanted to regulate the number of times an ice-cream van could play its jingle. Speaking on The Ryan Tubridy Show, she described MMA as a "vile so-called sport".
I have written to the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport seeking his views on allowing this vile so-called sport to be given a platform and an audience here and fully believe that this event should not be licensed.
She went on to label it as "ultra-violent" and a sport where "gruesome injuries are all too frequent". The senator can probably count on Ray D'Arcy to man the barricades with her in protest.
Update: 14:00
The senator has since rowed back on her comments saying she "jumped the gun".
Hands up - jumped the gun re UFC/MMA - lots of offers of training/education which I'll take up! — Sen Catherine Noone (@senatornoone) January 14, 2015
