The wait is almost over for the highly anticipated Friends reunion. Could we be more excited?!
It had been disclosed that Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc will return to the original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. Studio lot for a special celebration. We just didn't know when.
The last time all six cast members were on screen together was in May 2004 following the finale.
Very little details have actually been revealed about the reunion. However, each actor has spoken out about their excitement surrounding the reunion and shed some light on what we can expect.
In April, Matt LeBlanc said: "It's more like the six of us together talking about the good old days," he said at the time. "We got the band back together without the instruments."
Jennifer Aniston said that the reunion won't be scripted but will consist of the cast sitting down and having a chat about the series. "I will not be Rachel," she said. "Although I kind of am. Well, we’re all sort of little fragments of them. Not really."
Lisa Kudrow Reunion Update
Lisa Kudrow gave the most recent update about the reunion in a Zoom call interview with Conan O'Brien. She told him that we don't have much longer to wait to see the cast reunite for the first time in 16 years.
"We have something on the books for us to do it at some time in August," she said. "We'll see. We're all still waiting for guidelines for shooting things."
Conan jumps in and suggests doing the reunion over Zoom just to piss people off.
"So the highly-anticipated all of you getting together is you guys on Zoom," he said. "You're not in the same room, and you can't really hear each other that well. And then you say, 'well, there it is. Goodbye, America.'"
A Zoom call reunion would be an incredible anti-climax but probably fitting considering the year we've had. Nonetheless, all going well, we can expect to see the Friends cast in "The One Where They Get Back Together" in the next month or so.
