Netflix's latest release Bodkin has already proven to be a hit with viewers, with the dark comedy set in Ireland providing plenty of laughs and thrilling moments. With the show shot in Ireland and featuring plenty of local acting talent, is has led many to people to ask 'where was Bodkin filmed?'

Following the story of a group of podcasters who make their way to rural Ireland to investigate the disappearance of three people a number of years prior, one of the most eye-catching aspects of the show is the incredible scenery on display.

With that in mind, here are some of the locations that feature in Bodkin.

Where was Bodkin filmed?

Bodkin was filmed entirely in Ireland, taking in a number of different locations across the country.

It was primarily based in West Cork, with Union Hall Village, Drumadoon Pier, Poulgorm Bridge, and Glandore all used.

Wickow also features heavily, with Ardmore Studios, Belmont Demesne, Carnegie Library - Enniskerry, Sallygap and Travelahawk Beach providing filming locations for the show.

In Dublin, Fenian Street, Howth Village, Howth Castle and Leopardstown Racecourse all feature, as does Dave’s Diner in Julianstown, County Meath.

Bodkin is a darkly comedic thriller about a motley crew of podcasters who set out to investigate the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic, coastal Irish town.

But once they start pulling at threads, they discover a story much bigger and weirder than they could have ever imagined.

Is Bodkin a real place?

While the coastal town of Bodkin in West Cork is the primary location of most of the action in the show, it is not actually a real place.

Series creator Jez Scharf told Tudum, “It’s a fake town, it’s a fake place. It’s all fake people. The mystery itself, we worked very hard to find something that is in no way adjacent to a real true crime story. The fictionality of it was very deliberate.”

 

What actors are in Bodkin?

Bodkin features a number of familiar faces.

Dubliner Siobhán Cullen (ObituaryThe Dry) leads the cast, with Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) and Robyn Cara (Trying) filling the roles of the other podcasters.

In terms of other Irish actors, Chris Walley of Young Offenders fame plays a sizeable role, as do the likes of David Wilmot, Ger Kelly, Kery McLean and David Pearse.
