Netflix has dropped its trailer for The King and it looks suitably epic.
With an all-star cast that includes Timothée Chalamet as Henry V, Joel Edgerton, Robert Pattinson and Sean Harris, there is no doubt that Netflix has gone all out in the film adoptation of Shakespeare's Henriad plays.
The clocks in as a mammoth 133 minutes, with Netflix describing the storyline as:
Hal, wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne, has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape.
Now the young king must navigate the palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life — including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, the ageing alcoholic knight, John Falstaff.
While there is still no official Netflix release date, the film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival on 2 September so one would imagine we won't have long to wait afterwards. Check out the trailer below:
