There have been too many great Irish characters to mention over the history of television. We struggled to the narrow the field down to 32, let alone 16 but it would seem that four have stood out well above the rest.

The clergyman will now take on Dustin the Turkey in the first semi-final, with Dustin enjoying a 63% to 38% win over Agnes Brown.
It's the second semi-final that is capturing most people's imaginations with two of the great television characters going head to head. It's Love/Hate's Nidge vs The Hardy Bucks' Francis 'The Viper' Higgins! Nidge earned his spot with a 70% v 30% win over Roy Trenneman in the quarters , while The Viper put paid to Martin Moone 62% to 38%.
