This "original odd couple" style cop movie with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg is a big of a forgotten gem. Notable and enjoyable cameos from Samuel L. Jackson and The Rock who probably star in a better film in a parallel universe.

Star Trek: Into Darkness: 9.00PM, Channel 4

Plot: After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one-man weapon of mass destruction. (IMDB)

Rating: 84% (Rotten Tomatoes)

The second in the JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot falls slightly short of the 2009 film, but is a very good effort.

The Italian Job: 9.00PM, Sky One

Year: 2003

Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, Jason Statham, Donald Sutherland

Plot: After being betrayed and left for dead in Italy, Charlie Croker and his team plan an elaborate gold heist against their former ally. (IMDB)

Recommended

Seemingly needless remake of the 1969 classic but as a star studded heist movie, it's pretty good. the sb

The Sense Of An Ending: 9.15PM, BBC Two

Year: 2017

Plot: A man becomes haunted by his past and is presented with a mysterious legacy that causes him to re-think his current situation in life. (IMDB)

Adaptation of a Booker Prize winning novel but never hits the heights of the book. A nice film.

Song For A Raggy Boy: 9.40PM, RTE 2

Year: 2003

Cast: Aidan Quinn, Iain Glen, Robert Sheehan

Plot: The true story of a single teacher's courage to stand up against an untouchable prefect's sadistic disciplinary regime and other abuse in a Catholic Reformatory and Industrial School in 1939 Ireland (IMDB)

A hard watch at time as the subject matter would suggest.

Wolf of Wall Street: 10.00PM, ITV4 (Virgin 132, Sky 2004)

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie

Plot: Based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government. (IMDB)

Rating: 79% (Rotten Tomatoes)

Scorsese and DiCaprio at their best. There are no good guys and redeeming qualities in this film at all, but it's a lot of fun to watch.

Sideways: 10.00PM, TG4

Year: 2004

Cast: Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church, Virginia Madsen, Sandra Oh

Plot: Two men reaching middle age with not much to show but disappointment embark on a week-long road trip through California's wine country, just as one is about to take a trip down the aisle. (IMDB)

Rating: 97% (Rotten Tomatoes)

A former indie classic now just accepted as a classic. A must watch, preferably with a bottle of wine.

The Conversation: 11.00PM, BBC Two

Year: 1974

Cast: Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Harrison Ford

Plot: A paranoid, secretive surveillance expert has a crisis of conscience when he suspects that the couple he is spying on will be murdered. (IMDB)

Rating: 98% (Rotten Tomatoes)

The film Francis Ford Coppola made between the first two Godfather movies and he's in that kind of form in this rarely talked about classic.
