The string of unusual words on Wordle continues, and Saturday's was no different. The choice of brine as the word of the day surprised quite a few players.
The word brine is not uncommon per se, but plenty of players were unsure as to the meaning of the word.
Dictionary.com defines it as:
water saturated or strongly impregnated with salt.
Given its heavy salt content, it is most commonly used for cooking, and de-icing roads. It is also a by-product of many industrial actions.
Some players were quite surprised by today's word.

Though brine is a common compound in scientific circles, the word itself isn't exactly part of the daily lexicon for most people.
The word bamboozled several players. Plenty of Wordle players took to Twitter to share their dismay at the choice of Saturday's word.

Wordle continue to bring words out of left-field, and "brine" is just another example of the steadily increasing difficulty of the game since its move to the New York Times.
We await Wordle 260 with bated breath...
