Considering the world needs some sort of distraction from everything that is going on at the minute, Netflix's Tiger King could not have arrived at a better time.
If you haven't seen the show yet, we would definitely recommend that you do so. Basically, it revolves around the mad story of Joe Exotic, a polygamous, gun-loving, mullet-sporting, tiger-owning, red neck who runs a big cat zoo in Oklahoma.
What follows is a remarkable story that sees Exotic (and this was given away in the trailer), real name Joseph Maldonado-Passage, sent to prison for attempting to hire a hitman to murder animal rights activist Carole Baskin.
The two had a long standing feud, and it was not surprising to see Exotic end up in prison as a result. However, questions do remain as to whether he was the architect of this particular plot. Many believe it is likely that his former business partner Jeff Lowe played just as large a part, and he has yet to face any punishment.
With the extra publicity surrounding the case due to the documentary, Joe Exotic has come out swinging.
In post on his Facebook page, it was revealed that he was filing a $94million law suit against Lowe and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Not only this, but he has also asked Donald Trump for a presidential pardon to release him from prison after he was convicted on 21 separate counts last year.
Part of the lengthy statement read:
This lawsuit has been filed in the name of Justice, The Trump Administration must be made aware of the Overreach, perjury, abuse of power and the failure to uphold the Oath of their position which is truth and Justice for all...
I have been illegally charged with these crimes and the Trump Administration, the United States Department of Interior along [with] the Federal Wildlife service must be held accountable for what they have done to me, my parents and my family, along with my animals. Thank you and please share.
Coincidentally, Exotic is actually a former campaign rival of Trump after he ran for president back in 2016. We imagine it is unlikely his request for the pardon will be granted.
We're also going to throw in this music video again, just because.
