The sixth season of Line Of Duty premiered with a bang last night on BBC 1. Despite being shot during covid, the programme managed to bring a heightened amount of drama, tension, intrigue, and yes acronyms. No programme in TV history has featured so many feckin' acronyms. If you're uninitiated to the show, or even a hardcore LoD fan, the sheer amount of acronyms spouted by the show's protaganists can be daunting. It's like wading through alphabet soup.
Nothing confused viewers more than the heavily-used term CHIS last night. What the hell exactly is a CHIS you may have found yourself asking last night. You were not alone.
Say chis one more fucking time #LineOfDuty pic.twitter.com/sPPga9rnt9

Everytime they say CHIS in the new #LineOfDuty I keep hearing jizz. Makes for a very different show

Just completed the census, as my contribution to the 150th series of 'Who Do You Think You Are?' in 2120.

It turns out a CHIS is a Covert Human Intelligence Source. I know this because Twitter users last night tweeted a handy list of Line of Duty acronyms, and they're essential to have open on your second screen as you wade through the plot complexities of the new season.
If you don't know your CHIS from your IOPC's, you need this glossary
Save this..... you’ll need it for next 6 weeks....#lineofduty pic.twitter.com/KtAirD9S1y
