Given HBO's remarkable track record of commissioning exceptional dramas and documentaries, whenever you see that they've got a new show coming out, it's usually a decent indicator of quality. The Undoing looks set to be added to their impressive catalogue.
However, when you add the name of David. E. Kelley into the mix, you've got something special.
TV fans might know that Kelley is the writer/producer on shows like Ally McBeal, Boston Public, Boston Legal, Mr. Mercedes, and Big Little Lies.
All in all, that's one hell of a CV.
Well, he's teaming up with one of the stars of Big Little Lies, Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman, for a new murder mystery.
The Undoing follows Grace Fraser (Kidman), who is living the only life she ever wanted for herself.
She's a successful therapist on the brink of publishing her first book, has a devoted husband and young son who attends an elite private school in New York City.
However, weeks before her book is published, a chasm opens in her life; a violent death, a missing husband, and in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations.
Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself.
The series is directed by Susanne Bier (Birdbox, The Night Manager) and also stars Hugh Grant, Donald Sutherland, Noah Jupe, Edgar Ramirez, and more.
The six-part series will air weekly on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW TV from 26 October.
