With the US election scheduled to take place later this year, the release of The Comey Rule way always going to attract interest but the casting of Brendan Gleeson as Donald Trump has definitely piqued the interest of viewers, especially those from Ireland.
After the first images were released a few weeks ago, audiences were amazed at Gleeson's likeness to the US president but in the latest footage, he really has Trump's mannerisms down.
Thankfully, Sky has also announced that the drama will be airing on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on September 30th.
Based on James Comey’s New York Times bestselling book 'A Higher Loyalty' and more than a year of additional interviews with a number of key principals, The Comey Rule is an immersive, behind-the-headlines account of the historically turbulent events surrounding the 2016 presidential election and its aftermath, which divided a nation.
The synopsis states that it's "not the biopic of one man, but is instead the story of two powerful figures, Comey and Trump, whose strikingly different personalities, ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course.
In terms of the cast drama, Jeff Daniels (The Newsroom) plays former FBI Director James Comey and the two-part event series was adapted for the screen and directed by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Billy Ray (Captain Phillips, Shattered Glass).
