With the summer blockbuster season taking a massive hit due to the impact of COVID, film fans might be craving a new comic-book adaptation to watch.
Well, Season 2 of Amazon's wonderfully-gory, tongue in cheek, and irreverent The Boys is here to help. Well, actually, in many ways, it's not because their adaptation of Garth Ennis' graphic novel is unlike any other entry in the comic-book genre.
Long may that continue.
For those that missed out on Season 1, we urge you to check it out on Amazon but in a nutshell, superheroes are mean feckers that use their power for evil, a rogue group called The Boys have to hunt them down.
It's brilliant, it's violent, it takes the mickey out of the whole superhero genre.
In terms of the plot for Season 2, The Boys are on the run from the law and hunted by the Supes, desperately trying to regroup and fight back against the evil corporation, Vought.
In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social-media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own.
On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.
The first three episodes of Season 2 premiere on Amazon Prime on Friday, September 4, with new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in a season finale on October 9.
