Everyone's favourite Italian plumber is finally getting a movie. The face of Nintendo is going to hit the big screen on April the 7th next year. In a special Nintendo direct livestream yesterday, the Japanese company released a teaser trailer for The Super Mario Bros Movie. Here's 5 things that we learned from it.
Super Mario Bros Movie: New trailer arrives
Jack Black is awesome as Bowser
Playing the antagonist to the Mushroom Kingdom, Jack Black has impressed with his few lines in the trailer. Having previously voiced acted as Po in the film Kung Fu Panda, the actor already has experience in the industry. His voice for Bowser is perfect for the main villain, just the right level of deepness and enthusiasm for a guy hellbent on conquering a kingdom.

Jury still out on Chris Pratt's Mario
Fans of the beloved plumber have mixed feelings on Chris Pratt voicing him. Initially, they were annoyed that Mario's original voice actor Charles Martinet was not selected. After the trailer, people thought that the plumber's voice seemed to be just his regular one with a slight Italian accent.
Chris Pratt as Mario is a prime example of why you should hire voice actors for voice acting roles because what the hell is this pic.twitter.com/rOYmQqSXEv

However, others disagree, stating that he has only said a few lines so far and that he sounds likes he's from Brooklyn which Mario is originally from.
I genuinely love his design here💞 And I think Chris Pratt’s voice for him here, sounds pretty good :)
Even though it isn’t Italian, it actually fits. Sounds a bit more like he actually came from Brooklyn🤟#SuperMarioBrosMovie pic.twitter.com/Yaxv1FCMIC— Leo G. Cady (@LeoGCady1) October 6, 2022
The Animation Looks Perfect
Tasked with bringing Nintendo's flagship game to the big screen, Illumination did not disappoint. Everything in the trailer looks fantastic with Bowser's destruction of the ice world visually stunning. The main characters also look great with little details such as Mario's cap and eyes just designed right.

The Real World Likely Features
Mario's first lines in the trailer seem to give a clue that he isn't from there.
What is this place?
Considering that he came through a warp pipe, it is possible that him and Luigi are plumbers in the real world and got transported to this new world. Furthermore, a popular aspect of Japanese stories is that the main character is brought to a new world to save it.
References To The Video Games
Players of the famous video game will know there is multiple worlds to travel across to defeat Bowser. The trailer seems to show three. Bowser is seen destroying the ice world, whilst Mario has arrived in what looks like Level One. His brother, Luigi seems to be trying to escape the volcanic final level where Bowser resides.
With Mario's latest adventure not out till next year, fans will be eager to see more trailers of the film that they have been waiting so long for.
