Among the numerous Shane MacGowan stories being shared since his death, one of the best has come from a recent interview with his wife Victoria Mary Clarke.
The pair met in 1984 when Clarke was 16, before entering into a relationship and an 11 year long engagement, prior to their marriage in 2018.
Clarke was a constant by his side in his recent stay in hospital and spoke of how MacGowan made use of one of the nation's favourite shows to pass the time.

Sometimes I get a takeaway and we watch a film together — that’s if I can stop him watching Father Ted!

Ah, the blessings of the cursed.

"Another visitor came in with a present of a recording device which Shane started using," she added.
"He’s actually managed to write a song on it by singing into it. He’s been singing the song to people who’ve come in to see him."
Among MacGowan's visitors were Daniel O'Donnell, Imelda May, and Spider Stacy.
"Shane would never think of these people as celebrities," Clarke said.
"He just sees them as friends. You can get quite bored in hospital so it’s nice to have visitors."
