RTÉ have announced that presenter Claire Byrne has tested positive for Covid-19.
Byrne confirmed that she had contracted the coronavirus, emailing staff within RTÉ to say: "As some of you may know, I tested positive for Covid-19. I made the decision that I wanted you all to know this at the earliest opportunity. The HSE contact tracing system worked with me over the weekend."
Last week, Byrne was not in studio for Claire Byrne Live and instead broadcast from her garden shed. She explained that this was because she had symptoms of a cold and was self-isolating while she awaited a test for the virus.
"I’m in self-isolation so instead of joining you from the @RTENews studios, I am with you from a link in my shed" - Claire Byrne

In her email today, she stated that she is over the peak of the condition and expressed her thanks to all those who have expressed their support and to those in RTÉ who have been dealing with the issues arising from her diagnosis.
Byrne will appear on her TV show tonight via video link, while Sarah McInerney will once again co-present in studio. The programme starts at 10.35pm.
