He presents one of the most popular Irish podcasts out there, but what does Jarlath Regan, presenter of An Irishman Abroad, listen to in his spare time?

The volume of podcasts available today means you can easily get lost down a rabbit hole listening to political analysis to sports commentary, and Regan gets stuck into a bit of everything.

He spoke to the Rewind and talked us through some of his favourite podcasts at the moment.

NPR (National Public Radio)

Straight in at the top of the list are podcasts presented Terry Gross, a venerable presenter with National Public Radio (NPR). The 68-year-old has conducted thousands of interviews on the network over the years, becoming renowned for the way she can pierce deep into a person's life.

I listen to her no matter who she is interviewing because she is just such an expert at drawing out people and asking the most perfect, revealing questions. And for some reason she gets people to lower their guard.

And all of her interviews are done over ISDN line; I didn't realise that until this week. And that's incredible because you do feel she's in the room looking her guests in the eye.

Bill Simmons (Ringer Network)
Recommended

Regan finds himself listening to a lot of Bill Simmons content on the Ringer Network, in particular the Rewatchables podcast. The film podcast dissects some of the most famous films in history from Die Hard to Mean Girls, and is the go-to podcast when the presenter wants to simply tune out.

Reliving these movies from when you were growing up is just such a joy. That's how I switch off in terms of podcasts.

Anything NBA/basketball-related

"I cannot get enough NBA and basketball in my life," says the exiled Irishman. Whether it's NCAA, Irish basketball, European basketball or the NBA, Regan wants to consume it all. And naturally with the amount of NBA coverage available, he finds himself tuning in to the Lowe Post with Zach Lowe and the Woj Pod with Adrian Wojnarowski among others.

I cannot wrench myself from it. I properly have a bit of an addiction there. The NBA is a proper 365-day of the year sport - it never takes a break. You could consume it all day every day and, as my wife knows, I pretty much do.

Jarlath Regan was speaking as CurrencyFair launch the a multi-month, international campaign to find the most deserving Irish emigrant to receive a €30,000 ‘Come Home’ to Ireland relocation package. The package includes accommodations in Dublin (or Ireland) for one year, flights home and car insurance. Our goal is to address, for one deserving person or family at least, some of the repatriation pains returning Irish emigrants face
