Kinnaman plays the role of Pete Koslow, an ex-soldier who ends up in prison for his involvement in a fight while trying to protect his wife. He gets offered early release by becoming an informant for the FBI in their attempts to take down The General, the most powerful crime boss in New York. However, everything goes south when an undercover NYPD officer gets killed during a FBI sting and worse still, The General makes Koslow take the blame for it.
Now he's back in prison, The General is making him spearhead a drug operation, the FBI are insisting he goes along with it, while the NYPD are sniffing around trying to get to the bottom of what happened their cop.
The movie has an all-star cast, one of the world's best movie producers and an interesting backstory.
