The person that's responsible for health and safety in the Oireachtas was also present at Wednesday's golf event in Galway, as reported by the Irish Examiner.
They state: "John Flaherty, the Captain of the Guard in Leinster House, has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the staff in the Oireachtas. Mr Flaherty has been given new responsibilities this year for ensuring compliance to COVID-19 restrictions around the parliament building."
The report adds: "When contacted by the Irish Examiner about his presence at the event, Mr Flaherty replied that he did "not want to comment, but I was a resident in the hotel."
Speaking on the Six-One News, Taoiseach Michéal Martin said the event in Galway was wrong and that he "understands fully" the anger of people around the country who have had to make sacrifices during the pandemic.
The Taoiseach said he is "deeply annoyed and upset" by what happened and that he "did not expect it in any shape or form."
Among the 81 attendees were the Minister for Agriculture Dara Calleary and Seanad Leas-Cathaoirleach Jerry Buttimer, who have both resigned.
EU Commissioner Phil Hogan and the Supreme Court Justice Seamus Woulfe also attended the event and both released statements.
In addition to the resignation of Calleary, the party whip was also removed from three Fianna Fáil senators, and three Fine Gael senators, including Jerry Buttimer.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald said that the event should not have gone ahead and that the Government "has descended into new levels of chaos"
McDonald also believes that the Oireachtas golf event was the "last straw for many people" and that the Dáil needs to be recalled immediately.
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the event.
