With Tenet set for release on August 26, we're certain that film fans will be flocking to their nearest cinema to check out Christopher Nolan's latest blockbuster.

Granted, we're not 100% sure on the plot details of Nolan's new film, but we're assuming that it's not a Christmas film, nor does it feature any Christmas miracles.

Who knows? Maybe we're wrong.

What we do know is that Omniplex Cinemas will be bringing back some classic Christmas films later this month though.

Yippee-ki-yay because the cinema chain is pulling out the Christmas trees, cranking up the Christmas tunes, and bringing back Home Alone, Die Hard, Elf, Love Actually and Frozen 2 across their 33 cinemas in Ireland.

To paraphrase the immortal words of Buddy the Elf, son of a nutcracker, that's good news!

All of these films will be on the slate at Omniplex cinemas for one day only - Saturday, August 22.

Tickets are priced at €8 for an adult and €5 for children. However, every ticket that's purchased for one of these Christmas films will also include a donation of €1 to Barnardo’s Children’s Charity.

Speaking about this initiative, Mark Anderson, Director of Omniplex Cinemas, has said: “It’s been a tough year so far for everyone, and we just want to have one magical day that you can tell a funny story about in years to come- let 2020 be the year your local cinema did Christmas 4 months early.

"We’re also very proud to be supporting Barnardo’s NI and Barnardos Ireland Children’s Charity with this event who need fundraising help more than ever to support families in our local communities”.

Every year, Barnardos Ireland and Barnardo’s Northern Ireland work with over 30,000 children and families across Ireland.

Suzanne Connolly, CEO of Barnardos Ireland, adds: “Christmas is a special time for children, but for many vulnerable children, it can be a difficult time. By supporting Christmas in August, not only are people creating wonderful childhood memories, and recalling their own, but they are also supporting Barnardos to help create lasting and happy childhood memories for vulnerable children throughout Ireland,”

Since re-opening in July 2020, Omniplex have implemented an extensive strategy to ensure guests can enjoy a safe cinema trip including dynamic in-cinema seat separation, hand sanitising stations, rigorous cleaning regimes and Perspex at appropriate touchpoints.
