We've written a few times in the past about Irish ballads being butchered, but this time it is the post-punk classic 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' that has been done dirty.
The culprit was ex-Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher and his band The High Flying Birds, who were covering the famous tune from legendary Manchester band Joy Division, for a BBC show.
However, the end product was bland and lacking the distinctive and raw punch of the original, with Gallagher's voice not suited to the tune or powerful enough to pull it off.
He was widely criticised, even by fans of Oasis and The High Flying Birds, and, unsurprisingly, his brother Liam got in on the action by taking to twitter to write a snarky and sarcastic apology on behalf of his brother.
I must once again apologise on behalf of my family for Rkids piss poor and damn rite blasphemous version of joy division’s love will tear us apart tut fucking tut SORRY

“I would play this song, this version of it, at home down the years," said Noel before playing the song.
“I was like, ‘How can I get away with that?’ Because it’s such an iconic [song] and, being from Manchester… well, this is going to be tricky.”
“But now I’ve got my own studio, I went and did a little demo of it and I was like ‘You know what? I think I might be able to pull this off.’ So we’re going to do’‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ by the Divs.”
Unfortunately for Noel, while his intentions were good, the execution was off.
For Oasis fans, the continuing bickering between the two brothers does not bode well for hopes of a reunion, which had gathered steam in recent weeks.
