Despite appearing and working on many other movies and TV shows over the past decade, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor will always be remembered for playing the role of 'Nidge' in Love/Hate.
The RTÉ drama is one of the broadcaster's most successful shows of all time and in recent times has surged in popularity in the UK.
Tom Vaughan-Lawlor has since starred in the likes of The Maze, Avengers Endgame and Avengers Infinity War, while also appearing in Peaky Blinders and today, his latest movie was released.
Netflix original movie, The Beautiful Game, is available to stream now and the Dublin native stars alongside Bill Nighy and Michael Ward.
The film is based on the story of the Homeless Football World Cup and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor plays the role of Kevin, an Irish man representing the Three Lions at the tournament.
His latest work is certainly a long way from Love/Hate, and a certain scene of Vaughan-Lawlor wearing an England jersey during filming attracted the attention of one Irish person.
Tom Vaughan-Lawlor approached in airport while filming
The actor appeared on the latest Second Captains podcast and as well as weighing in on the Irish managerial saga and his latest movie, he tells a great story about a specific scene in The Beautiful Game.
While filming a scene at Stanstead Airport, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor was approached by a compatriot who was taken back by the sight of 'Nidge' in an England jersey.
I had one guy come up to me in Stansted Airport while I was wearing the England kit.
And he just said 'You should be ashamed of yourself' and walked away.
I couldn't tell if he was being serious or not but it was fine.
He wasn't the only non-English cast member who found it somewhat strange to wear the England jersey, with Welsh co-star Callum Scott-Howells also finding himself in the same position.
Callum Scott Howells is in it too and he's a huge Cardiff City fan and we had a very brief at the start of filming about how we're going to handle it.
We settled on just being in total denial and getting on with it and never mentioning it again.
10 years on since the Love/Hate finale, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor finds himself in a very different setting, but the Irishman is continuing to flourish in the film industry.
