Today on Joe Duffy's Liveline on RTE Radio, listeners rang in with a range of stories talking of apparitions they have witnessed of the popular Italian saint Padre Pio.
Pio was widely known for his stigmata, an affliction which gave him unexplained wounds on his hands, and is held in high regard among Catholics in Ireland.
Today's Liveline show heard listeners such as people from a prayer group from who claim that a photograph, taken in 2018 in St. Saviour's Church in Limerick, had morphed into a photo which showed an appearance of Padre Pio on the church altar.

Another Liveline listener, Kay, shared the remarkable story of an image of Padre Pio which she says has been on her bannisters for years. However, Joe Duffy questioned her on the validity of the claim.
"This is unbelievable," said Kay. "This is true, I had builders in the house and we got wooden stairs put in and it was varnished, and then they were doing the bannisters upstairs, and my husband was giving them a hand and he was sanding down the bannisters upstairs.
And he stopped and he turned to Kevin and he said 'will you come in and have a look at this.' And Kevin said 'oh my god I can't believe that, that's Padre Pio.' His face is in the bannisters upstairs Joe.
And that has been sanded and varnished many many a time, and his face is still there as prominent as when it first came. It's unbelievable. You can see his face, you can see the high forehead, and you can see the beard, and you can see his eyes.
"Ye but that could be anybody," asked Joe Duffy.
"Oh no, no, it's not anybody, it's Padre Pio," replied Kay. "No, no, it's the image of Padre Pio."
