The Scrap Heap in Limerick City may not look like much to most, but to those native to the Treaty county it seems to hold a special place in their hearts.
The mini mountain of metal is located on the banks of the River Shannon near the city centre, and is quite literally just a very large heap of scrap metal, nothing more, nothing less.
Twitter user @JamezGriffin posted earlier about the site, and pointed out that it was listed as a historical landmark and that it has a number of five star reviews.
One of Limerick's favourite sons, Blindboy, replied, and professed his love for the area and mentioned the amount projects he had filmed there.
The google reviews are all five stars, and are all hilarious.
As scrap heaps go it’s up there with the best of them. Tick one off the bucket list and get the best views of the heap from the Shannon Bridge at dusk on a clear summers evening. One is reminded of the ethereal beauty of the sun rising solemnly over the temples of Angkor Wat in South-East Asia. Majestic stuff.
Now I've been to my share of scrap heaps but this one is a cut above the rust. You want scrap? Then this place has it. On top of the heap are spectacular views of the beautiful scrap heap below. You really need to copper yourself on and see this heap. I visited in May this year for a friends wedding. It was an amazing ceremony, scrap metal was all over the shop. The band was a bit cheesy, I'm more of a metal fan. Anyways, can't say enough good things about the heap, it's riveting.

The amount of stuff I've filmed beside this scrap heap. Channel 4 production with a crew of 50. A Bafta longlisted BBC documentary. And I'll most likely be back for more. The people who run the scrap heap are just absolutely sound and let me do what I want https://t.co/3IyPfx5gh3

"I love this scrap heap, my boyfriend proposed to me here with a ring he conjured from love and the remains of Limericks previously loved metal. Hospital was pretty slow that day so the queues for the tetanus were quick and we could celebrate the next day xxx"
"When people said I'd end up on the scrap heap I took it as something bad.. oh how wrong I was.. if anything I should've been here sooner.. oohhh baby dont you know what it's worth... oooohhhhh heaven (here) is a place in limerick..."
"Was really stuck for ideas on what to do for our 10th anniversary so after a bit of research this came up as a possibility. Took a risk on it and the missis absolutely loved it. Stayed the night for a finish, will be back!"
