We live in strange times. It's been a month of the lockdown. The so-called 'surge' of Covid-19 is creeping ever closer. The weather is predicted beautiful for this long weekend but we've been told to stay indoors.
On this bank holiday weekend, we think everyone who's stuck indoors could use a few minutes of bliss and escape and no Irish song bridges the genders and generations like Mark McCabe's Maniac 2000.
At this time of crisis and hardship, we need a song that unites the nation and fills our hearts with joy.
So this Saturday night at 8pm, let's all raise the roofs and all play MANIAC 2000. #EasterSaturdayManiac2k pic.twitter.com/eq6IIcrmee— Balls.ie (@ballsdotie) April 9, 2020
Maniac 2000 is celebrating its twentieth birthday this year and the song has arguably never been more popular.
That's why we think it would be a great idea for the whole country to take 5 minutes out on Saturday evening to blast Maniac 2000 in their homes or apartments and forget about this crazy situation that we all find ourselves in for a little bit.
