If you haven't watched Tiger King at this stage, we really don't know what to say to you. There's very little we can add that hasn't already been said about the Netflix smash hit.

It has catapulted Joe Exotic into superstardom, despite the fact that he is currently in a Texas prison suffering with suspected coronavirus.

Before recently moving to a different facility, he had been in the same Oklahoma prison since being convicted in 2019. It is here that he would carry out a recent interview with the streaming giant.

Netflix posted a short interview with Exotic, which was recorded a couple of weeks ago, where he answered some questions fans of the show may want to know. The main takeaway is that he expresses regret at keeping his animals in cages for all those years:

When I walk out of here, am I going to be as crazy as I was before? That will never change.

On newfound fame: You know it would be nice if I could actually see me being famous out there, but I've seen these same four walls for a year and a half now.

On what he wants Tiger Kings fans to know: Go sit in a cage with your animals for a week. I mean when I left the zoo and shipped my chimpanzees to the sanctuary in Florida and imagined what my chimpanzees went through for 18 years, I'm ashamed of myself.

On relationship with Dillon: As short a time as I was married to Dillon, and still married to Dillon, for eight months before I got arrested for all this. It's been a year and a half of sleeping in a car and going from couch to couch, and house to house. I can't thank my husband enough for standing beside me.

Message to Tiger Kings fans: I'm done with the Carole Baskin saga. It's now time to turn the tables and get Joe out of jail as a free man and exonerated from all these charges.

While some questions may remain surrounding his conviction of attempting to hire a hitman to have Carole Baskin murdered, it is fair to say that Exotic may be a much darker character than he is portrayed in the documentary.

The Tiger King podcast series delves much deeper into the animals abuses that took place at his zoo, and we would encourage anyone who is interested in finding out more about him to listen to it.
