Speaking at a Democratic Party event in New York on Wednesday, Joe Biden made comments that will be sure to delight his Irish supporters and further antagonise our neighbours across the Irish Sea.
Speaking about last month's four day visit to Ireland, he explained why he undertook the journey on the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement:
I got to go back to Ireland for the, for the, the Irish Accords, to make sure they weren't, the Brits didn't screw around and Northern Ireland didn't walk away from their commitments.
With his Mayo ancestry and connection to the Kearney's, these words will only further endear him to the Irish public.

During April's trip, he spoke of Northern Ireland and expanded further on his wishes for the country.
"Effective devolved government that reflects the people of Northern Ireland, and is accountable to them, that works to find ways to face hard problems together will grow greater opportunities for the region," said Biden.
"That's a decision for you to make, not for me to make. Northern Ireland will not go back, pray God."

Downing Street were asked about Biden's comments from yesterday, with the Rishi Sunak's chief spokesperson releasing a statement.
"You will know that, obviously, the Windsor Framework was a culmination of substantive work between the UK and the EU, and at its heart the UK priority was always protecting the Good Friday Agreement.
"We have been consistent on that point throughout and we are pleased that between the UK and the EU we have been able to reach an agreement that works for the people of Northern Ireland, and for the whole of the UK."
