REBEL OR DIE.
A bold and impassioned call-to-action is the title of a new documentary highlighting the upcoming Rebellion Week, which begins on Monday 7 October. The documentary was made in conjunction with Extinction Rebellion Ireland and Collective Dublin in order to showcase the dire consequences inaction will have to the Earth's climate.
If things continue unabated, one million of the Earth's eight million species could face extinction. The reality is that we're in the midst of Earth's sixth mass extinction, with an ecosystem which is perilously close to destruction.
The documentary also mentions initial government recognition of a climate crises some 30 years ago. Since then, greenhouse gas emissions have increased by 60%.
These statistics are just the tip of the iceberg (pardon the pun) in a documentary chockfull of interesting and jaw-dropping facts which copper-fasten the severity of the situation.
In the documentary, Extinction Rebellion Ireland also outline their mantra of 'civil disobedience'. The six hallmarks of this tactic are:
- Being situated in the capital
- Number of people
- Willingness to break the law
- Day-to-day activity
- Make protesting fun
- Non-violence
Rebellion Week will take place for seven days from Monday October 7. You can find the full documentary below:
