An Enniskillen pub has released a Christmas ad that is arguably better than anything John Lewis have ever put out.

The UK retail chain has released festive adverts since 2007, with the main idea being to pull on the heartstrings of those watching.

With a big budget behind them, they've generally managed to do that, apart from a few efforts that have failed to hit the spot.

Charlie's Bar in Enniskillen have certainly given John Lewis a run for their money this year, with an extremely touching clip that they shared on their social media.

In it, an elderly gentleman is seen leaving flowers on a graveside before making his way down the main street in the Fermanagh town.

He appears to want to engage with passers-by but finds that most are too busy or disinterested to strike up conversation with him.

Enniskillen pub shares beautiful Christmas ad

That is before he enters Charlie's Bar at the same time as a couple with a dog, and it's when the man is enjoying his pint that the pooch comes over to join him.

The couple aren't too far behind and it's not long before the group are laughing together in the cosy surrounds of a Christmassy pub.

At the end, the WB Yeats quote "there are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet" flashes up on the screen, wrapping up two minutes that are very much worth your time.

Charlie's Bar share wonderful message about loneliness

In their Instagram caption, Charlie's extend a warm welcome to anyone who might be feeling lonely to drop into them on Christmas Day.

"Christmas can be such a joyful time for some and painfully hard for others," they write.

"One thing's for sure - you’ll always receive a warm welcome when you walk through our doors. We will be open on Christmas Day, so if you are alone this festive season, drop in for a chat."

The ad sends a lovely message about loneliness at this time of year, and it all plays out beautifully to Birdy's 2011 version of People Help The People by Cherry Ghost.
