Dublin Murders hits televisions screens this week. The show is a psychological crime drama based on the book series Dublin Murder Squad by Tana French.
This BBC adaptation has combined two books in one and stars Killian Scott and Sarah Greene, with Ned Dennehy, Conleth Hill and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor also involved.
It centres around two detectives sent to investigate a child's murder. The eight-episode series has been an eagerly anticipated part of the BCC's autumn schedule with the first episode airing tonight (Monday, October 14). It will also be shown on RTE One on Wednesday at 9.35pm.
As far as Scott is concerned, part of Dublin Murders allure is the distinctly Irish element. He said as much in an interview with the BBC.
"One of the things I liked about this show was that the humour felt uniquely Irish. It's extremely dark, and it is something I miss when I'm away from Ireland."
The show is riddled with creepy side characters and is shot with a bleak winter lens with the murder scene based in a forest. It is a brooding, intense and intricate thriller filmed in Belfast with an Irish dominated cast and framing.
The show promises much, now is time to see if it delivers. It airs on BBC One at 9.00 pm and on RTE One on Wednesday at 9.35 pm.
