The popular English food reviewers, The Food Review Club, were back in Dublin in the last week to investigate the much talked about Chinese war between the rival Lam takeaways.
For those who missed the story - which broke around April - it began when John Lam left his father Ken's takeaway, 'Lam's', to set up his own joint just a couple of doors down, which he aptly named 'New Lam's'.
Having already garnered attention in Ireland for their two reviews of Supermacs, the English boys were back to decide the winner between the two rival.
After trying a 4 in 1/spice bag hybrid dish from both restaurants, there was a clear winner in New Lam's, with the host full of praise for the new venture:
Ladies and Gentlemen of Dublin. There is no competition. Every aspect of that is better.

While the tale of the Dublin takeaways is entertaining for readers, and great for food content, the story behind it is a sad one, as you can see from John Lam's interview with the Irish Independent last April.
“I don’t hold any grudges with my dad but the reality is he sacked me for asking for a raise," said the younger Lam.
"That’s obviously not right. It’s not the first time he’s done something like this, either.
“He hasn’t even denied that fact in interviews he has done with papers recently.
“The reality is he didn’t just get rid of me out of the takeaway but also out of his life. After he did that, we were never going to be meeting for coffee, were we?"
